Police in Leeds crack down on rogue parkers

Motorists in Leeds who leave their vehicles in an inconvenient fashion are to be the subjects of a crackdown by police in the region, it has been reported.

The Yorkshire Post has stated that officials in the region have issued numerous warnings to drivers that have so far fallen on deaf ears.

Indeed, motorbike riders who leave their vehicles in a disruptive way could find themselves in trouble with the police, picking up a roads conviction which compromises their car insurance policies.

This is because cover firms could view them to be a risk on highways and increase the cost of deals as a result.

According to inspector Ian Croft from Leeds North West Inner Neighbourhood Policing Team, people are even blocking off disabled bays.

"We will continue our work over the next few weeks and want to warn motorists that this type of offending will be dealt with positively," the official warned.

This comes as the same news source has reported that officials in the region catch 13 people in Leeds every day using their mobile phones while in control of their vehicle.
