Tips offered for motorbike safety in Hampshire
Police officers in Hampshire have started a month-long education and enforcement campaign to try to reduce the number of motorbike accidents on the roads of the county.
Hampshire Constabulary reported that eight motorcyclists have lost their lives in collisions in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
During May, police officers will actively patrol motorcycle casualty routes, including the A272 from Winchester to Petersfield, A3057 from Romsey to Andover, A32 Fareham to Alton and the A339 Alton to Basingstoke.
They will also be attempting to engage with motorcyclists at bike meetings, where officers will discuss the importance of safe biking.

To assist with the campaign, BikeSafe launched a new set of workshops in March.
At these events, riders can learn how to be safer road users. The course feature classroom-based theory sessions and an afternoon of on-road observed riding with a police motorcyclist.
PC Mick Gear, Hampshire Constabulary's BikeSafe coordinator, commented: "Motorbikes are powerful machines and one dangerous manoeuvre or a split second lack of concentration can mean the difference between life and death.
"It is important that other road users also play a part in their safety and take time to check for bikes, particularly when emerging from junctions."
