Insurance costs 'not affected if vehicle is environmentally
The cost of a motorbike insurance policy is not affected if a vehicle is environmentally-friendly, a sector body has claimed.
According to a spokesperson for the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba), the grouping and size of a vehicle is more likely to have an effect on the price of motor insurance for it.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for Biba, remarked that environmental factors are not always a factor when insurance companies draw up policies for motorists.

The expert commented: "Smaller cars, which therefore give out less pollution, are automatically going to be cheaper to insure but it doesn't necessarily mean that a green one is going to be hugely beneficial financially on your insurance."
Recent research conducted by environmental analysts HybridCars.com recently revealed that more hybrid vehicles are being picked up compared to last year.
The company stated that approximately three per cent of automobiles sold in the UK are ecologically sound, such as the Toyota Prius.
