Historic bike to be displayed at motor show
A 95-year-old motorcycle is to be displayed at this year's Shetland Classic Motor Show giving bike enthusiasts the chance to see a unique piece of motorbiking history.
A total of 180 motor vehicles will be exhibited at the event which opens at the Clickimin Leisure Centre on Friday, including models from Bentley, Aston Martin and Lagonda.
But the historic bike being displayed by the Shetland Museum and Archives promises to be one of the main attractions, as it is believed to be in "excellent" condition.

On loan from the National Motor Museum, the 1913 Douglas is the same model used by James Herculson who in 1919 rode over 60,000 around Shetland in all weathers to compile his booklet Motoring in the Shetlands.
Some 66 bikes will be travelling to Shetland for the 2008 event from locations near and far. The furthest, a 1982 BMW R60/5, will be arriving from Norway.
The show could encourage visitors to take up motorbiking once they see some of the vehicles on display. According to the Institute of Advanced Motorists motorcycling is becoming more popular in the UK and more are taking out bike insurance cover and getting on the roads.
