Motorbiking 'becoming more popular'
Motorbiking is growing more popular in the UK, and the importance of driver safety has increased as a consequence.
That is the conclusion of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), whose representatives attributed a recent revival in the popularity of biking to more predictable journey times and better fuel consumption.
Underlining the role of car drivers in keeping conditions safe for bikers, a spokesperson offered a number of road-use reminders.
"Don't forget to check carefully at junctions when you are emerging," advised the representative, adding that individuals caught up in dense traffic should keep checking their mirrors.

"If the biker is trying to filter, make a point of creating space for them if you can do so in safety," continued the IAM spokesperson.
"By pulling over slightly, to one side or the other, you can make the difference between letting the biker past, or adding to the congestion."
The Yamaha TRX80 chase pulled off by Lara Croft in Tomb Raider was revealed in a survey last week to be the favourite on-screen cycle moment of UK bikers.
