Charity bikers set to leave this weekend

Two charity-minded young men are set for a five month motorcycle trip across 16 countries to raise money for Barnardo's.

Kurtis Murphy an David Snelling, both 23, will set off form Morcambe this Saturday to travel the world in aid of the children's charity, the Citizen reports.

The pair has already raised over £1,000 for the charity by engaging in events like bag packing in Morcambe's Iceland and are setting off for this new challenge a year after passing their driving test.

Mr Snelling said: "We have always wanted to get out and see the world. It is such a big thing that we thought it would be great to get a charity involved.

"It's the right time for us to do this as we have no commitments holding us back. We are just going to go for it."

He added that the pair had been inspired by Ewan McGregor's trip round-the-world on his own motorcycle.

The Scottish actor went around the world on his bike with friend Charley Boorman in a journey filmed as the television series Long Way Round.

Mr Murphy and Mr Snelling will be travelling without support crew, previous experience or backup and are aiming to raise £10,000 to Barnardo's.
