Women 'look to motorbikes to reduce cost of living'

More women in the UK are considering using a motorbike as a form of travel in an effort to reduce the cost of living, it has been reported.

According to statistics from the Post Office, some 14 per cent of people would switch their car for a bike if it meant cutting costs.

Furthermore, research from the Motorcycle Consumer Research Unit at the University of Hull shows that the figure is close to one-fifth of all woman, adding that the amount is set to go up.

However, taking out a motorbike insurance policy could prove to be a problem for new riders.

This is because cover companies may view them to be a risk on the road due to their relative lack of experience, choosing to increase prices as a result.

Meanwhile, the Southport Visiter has reported that a pair of motorbike fans recently got married in a very appropriate manner.

According to the news source, Guy Griffiths sped to church for his union with Janet Graham on a motorbike.

"We wanted to do something slightly different. We are both motorcycle enthusiasts, so we asked all our friends to come on their motorcycles. It started off with just five or six, then it snowballed from there," he said.
