Motorbike riders caught in police sting
Police caught out one road user per minute during a 90-minute crackdown on speeding in Cambourne, it has been reported.
Motorbike riders were targeted in an area where roadworks were being carried out. The Falmouth Packet added that the speed limit for the road had been dropped from 70mph to 50mph to accommodate the maintenance.
The 95 motorists caught during the initiative could have difficulty picking up a motorcycle insurance policy in the future, as cover companies could view the riders as particularly dangerous due to their road conviction.
Local police constable and road casualty reduction officer Mark Leath remarked on the dangers of rogue motoring.
He said: "Such reckless driving could easily result in the loss of control of the vehicle, with the potential outcome of serious injuries or fatalities."
This comes as figures released by Haringey Council show a drop in the number of road deaths and serious injuries recorded on roads in Haringey, according to the Hornsey Journal.
The news source stated that over the course of 2007 there were some 78 highways incidents in the area.
