Triumph Thunderbird 1600 cruiser unveiled
Triumph has unveiled its 2009 range of motorbikes, one of the highlights of which is the Thunderbird 1600 cruiser. It is hoped that the latest addition to line - which was revealed at a dealer conference on July 20th - will provide a tempting alternative to Harley-Davidsons.
Motorcycle News reported that the vehicle is aesthetically comparable to the firm's Bonneville America, but added that it still retains its own unique look. The machine features a 1594cc liquid-cooled parallel twin-engine, which it is claimed can achieve over 100 bhp, and a fat rear tyre, which is balanced by a tall raked out front.
In addition to this, the company's latest offering has a six-speed gearbox and a belt drive system which is similar to the one found in a Harley-Davidson. Other additions to Triumph's 2009 range include a new Daytona 675 and the Street Triple R. Biking enthusiasts thinking of investing in one of Triumph's machines should ensure that their vehicles have adequate motorcycle insurance before taking to the road.
In related news, Japanese manufacturer Yamaha recently revealed a number of new cruisers for 2009, including the V-Star 1300 and V-Star 1300 Tourer.
