Harley-Davidson reveals 2009 Tri Glide
Harley-Davidson has unveiled the Tri Glide - a three-wheeled version of its Ultra Classic tourer - as part of its 2009 line.
The firm's new addition features a Tour Pak luggage compartment as well as room for a passenger. For an engine, the Tri Glide Ultra Classic has a twin-cam 103 V-Twin and uses a six-speed cruise drive transmission, which has an optional electric reverse. Harley-Davidson says that the machine will be available in three OEM original equipment manufacturer paints including a Red Hot Sunglo option. It has a 16-inch front wheel that is balanced by two 15-inch wheels at the back, where there are also fenders that can be removed when the bike needs servicing.
The company claims that changes to the front of the vehicle, such as the lengthening of the forks and an added steer damper, will decrease the steering effort required by up to 25 per cent. Bikers considering purchasing one of the machines should ensure that they take out adequate motorbike insurance.
In related news, Delaware American Motors are teaming up with James DiTullio to co-develop a new Super Tourer called the Nitro which the firm claims will mesh touring comfort with the best features of power cruisers.
