Bikers join peaceful protest over roundabout barriers
The Bugsplatz Motorcycle Club (MCC) joined a protest against the installation of barriers at a roundabout in Telford earlier this week.
Around 100 bikers turned up to support the demonstration, as it was felt that the new addition to the road could be potentially hazardous to those on two wheels, Motorcycle News reports. The club commented that they were pleased that the gathering went by without incident and stated that they were confident that they had got their point across. While there was a police presence, it was almost a token gesture with one patrol car, which parked for a short amount of time before it moved on.
Sarah Harrison, from Bugsplatz MCC, commented: "The protest went really well...We made our point peacefully and within the confines of the law so there wasn't any trouble. "We kept the bikes moving as well so the other traffic wasn't too badly affected either." A meeting between the local council and the club may take place soon to discuss any future additions to road markings in the area. Motorbike fans thinking of attending a protest on their machines should ensure that they take out adequate motorbike insurance.
In related news, riders in Plymouth recently banded together to draw attention to the use of their parking spots on the seafront by four-wheeled road-users.
