Longer bikes4flight event to take place
This year's bikes4flight event will follow a longer route than it has in previous years. The fundraiser for the Air Ambulance will have two start points, one in Cornwall and one in Plymouth, Devon, reports Motorcycle News.
Organisers aim to get a sizable contribution to help the charity achieve the £1.4 million they need each year to stay in the air. The motorcycle run is the first follow-up to the inaugural event held in August last year. Around 1,000 bikes are expected to enter the 2008 experience, which will finish at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge.
This year the route has been kept secret, so those who attend will follow marshals in a "mystery tour". In related news, bikers in Telford banded together in a peaceful protest last week, reports Motorcycle News. Bugsplatz Motorcycle Club turned out to demonstrate against new barriers erected at a roundabout, which may be a danger to two-wheeled road-users. It is thought that around 100 machines and riders participated to make their disapproval known to the local council.
Motorcyclists thinking of attending a large gathering such as the bikes4flights or a protest should ensure that they take out suitable motorcycle insurance.
