Footballers plan charity ride
Bikers and footballers will do some good for both an education charity and their reputations this weekend.
England winger Shaun Wright-Phillips will lead a group of Harley Davidson owners on a sponsored ride from London to Cookham Dean in a bid to raise £40,000 for Education for the Children.
Wright-Phillips is an ambassador for the charity, which helps to fund education programmes in deprived areas of Guatemala, and is determined to help it raise enough money to build a new school.
He told the Bucks Free Press: "The kids there have very little and few of the opportunities that I took for granted growing up in the UK, and I'm really committed to trying to help the children there to have an education and a better life."
The 26-year-old will be joined by his father, Arsenal legend Ian Wright, and several of his Chelsea team-mates for the journey.
Another group of motorbike insurance policyholders recently raised £10,000 for Cancer Research UK and the oncology unit at Nottingham City Hospital by taking part in a sponsored ride.
More than 30 bikers made the trip from Land's End to John O'Groats in just 24 hours in order to generate the donations, reports the Nottingham Evening Post.
