Yamaha 'excited' by new riders

Yamaha has described the number of people choosing to travel by motorcycle or scooter rather than their cars as "exciting".

The manufacturer hosted two road shows in the UK this summer, highlighting the benefits of switching to two wheels.

Visitors to the events held in Bristol and Manchester, which may have included motorbike insurance customers, were able to view the company's range of scooters, while also being able to sample the riding experience with tuition from BSM Motorcycle Training instructors.

The aim of the road shows was to demonstrate how motorcycles and scooters can help people reduce their carbon footprint, journey times and monthly bills, which may be of interest to motorcycle insurance customers.

Karl Radley, marketing co-ordinator at Yamaha, said there had been a "great response" to the road shows.

"It's really exciting to see that people are taking on board the benefits of swapping to a scooter or moped for their commute and we look forward to repeating it soon," he remarked.

Those looking for low cost bike insurance may be interested to know that sales of powered two wheelers increased by 22 per cent in July, Motor Cycle Industry Association figures showed.

According to the association, many consumers are favouring "practical, multi-use and everyday" bikes.
