Motorcycle test uncertainty continues

New motorbike insurance customers preparing for their tests may find they are caught up in the uncertainty surrounding the implementation of the new test regime.

In Scotland, test centres have raised concern about how the new system is to be implemented, Visordown.com reports.

According to the newspaper, over 52 test centres in Scotland are to close following reforms announced by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) ahead of the new test coming into effect later this year.

However, John Miller of the Fast Track learner centre in Buckie told the news provider that his business could be jeopardised because test venues have yet to be finalised.

Mr Miller commented: "I cannot take bookings for October because I can't offer them a test date as there is no venue. Why would people book lessons if they can't go for their test?"

Consequently, the instructor anticipates losing a month's income, according to the news provider.

The new test includes two elements; higher speed exercises and off-road tests.

According to the DSA, 39 test centres in the UK are expected to be able to accommodate the off-road portion of the test, and a further set of casual hire sites are to be made available.
