Rossi victorious in Brno

Bike insurance customers following this year's MotoGP championship saw Valentino Rossi take a 50 point lead following victory in Brno in the Czech Republic.

The Italian Fiat Yamaha rider capitalised upon his rival Casey Stoners' misfortune early on in the race to finish ahead of Toni Elias and Loris Capirossi.

Having built up a considerable lead on Rossi, Stoner crashed out on the sixth lap, all but handing victory to the former champion.

Speaking to the official MotoGP website, Rossi said he knew the race would be "very difficult", given the Australian rider's strength, but felt he may have come out on top in a battle between the two riders.

"Unfortunately he crashed, and then I was ahead with an 11 second lead. If he hadn't have crashed then things would have been tougher, for sure," he remarked.

Commenting on his third-place finish, Capirossi said it was an "amazing" achievement for the whole Rizla Suzuki team, stating that for him the new season would start this week with testing ahead of the next race.

Stoner will no doubt be out to make amends for failing to finish when the championship moves on to Misano, Italy on August 31st.
