Riders urged to secure motorbikes
Motorcycle and scooter owners in the north-west are being urged to ensure they take adequate steps to prevent their bikes from being stolen.
Police in Merseyside are advising motorcyclists in Crosby to be vigilant and take precautions when it comes to leaving their bikes when not in use, the Crosby Herald reports.
Sergeant Andrew Hilton from Merseyside police told the newspaper that people can take "simple precautions" to reduce their chances of becoming victims of thieves - steps which could also mean people avoid having to claim on their motorbike insurance.
He recommended people leave their motorcycles or scooters in garage or sheds when they are not in use, the newspaper notes.
"If your bike is left on the street or a driveway, invest in a good quality sturdy lock and chain to secure it. These can also be used when you are out and about," Sergeant Hilton advised.
Meanwhile, police in Dunstable are appealing for information after a motorcycle was stolen from the White Lion Retail Park earlier this month.
Thieves took the black Lifan Honda from outside the JJB fitness club on the site, Dunstable Today reports.
A witness reported the incident to members of staff, but did not leave their details.
