Bikers saddling up for Wold fundraiser

Motorbike fans should check their motorcycle insurance is up to date and clean down their engines ahead of the sixth annual Wolds Motorbike Run in September.

The event takes place on Sunday September 7th and will raise money for the St Andrew's Children's Hospice, the Louth Leader reports.

In the past, the event has attracted more than 300 bikes and this year organisers hope to improve on that.

The organiser Michael Lee, of the Louth Friends Group, told the local newspaper: "All money raised by the event goes directly to the hospice which provides care for children and young adults from across the county who have a progressive life limiting illness."

Participants may want to save money by hunting out low cost motorcycle insurance and throw a few extra pounds into the fundraising efforts.

Those looking to secure cheap motorcycle insurance should avoid long-term financial penalties resulting from careless driving.

It highlighted that gaining points on a licence can lead to many years of high cover costs, with some drivers seeking a 92 per cent increase in the price of cover for receiving six penalty points.

A spokesman for the price comparison site said it is not just the first year of such points which can be costly, as many insurance providers ask drivers if they have received points during the previous five years.
