Bikers raise cash for rescuers

Burnham motorcyclists are to stage a fundraising bike ride for a local rescue service, it is reported.

The Mid Somerset and South Bristol Motorbike Club is to gather bikers from the region to rause money for the Burnham Area Rescue Boat organisation, which runs the town's two hovercrafts, the Burnham & Highbridge Weekly News reports.

It notes the local blub is to run a 60-mile bike ride on Sunday September 14th.

Furthermore, motorcycle insurance customers may be interested to hear, this is not an event for sports bikes and choppers alone.

Organiser Norman Templeman told the publication: "All are welcome, from 50CC mopeds upward, old or new. We already have more than 20 motorcyclists signed up and would welcome others joining us for this event."

Recently, police in the north-west urged bikers and the owners of scooters to ensure their vehicles are adequately secured when not in use.

Sergeant Andrew Hilton of Merseyside Police made his comments to the Crosby Herald, warning people to lock their bikes away wherever possible to avoid becoming a victim of theft.

For those bikes and scooters which have to be left in the street, he urged owners to lock them up with a "good quality, sturdy lock and chain".
