Biker helps hospital that helped him
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is trialling a new rescue response motorbike to enable it to better engage with the biker community.
The BMW R1200 RT-P Fire and Rescue Response motorcycle will be ridden by station manager Steve Moore while on secondment with the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership.
Mr Moore will be involved in the Performance Plus scheme being held at Cadwell Park on September 30th and October 7th, giving motorcycle insurance customers and other bikers to improve their road safety.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr Moore said: "The bike will allow me to actively engage with the biker community and highlight some of the dangers that are associated with motorcycles."
He told the Skegness Starndard that he had taken the bike to display at local bike nights.
Riders will have the opportunity to develop defensive riding skills, as well as learning more about vehicle maintenance, on the scheme which is funded by a grant from the Department for Transport.
Each session can accommodate 64 riders and is priced at £59.
