Bikers in Basildon to get new test centre
Motorbike users in Basildon are being given the chance to improve road safety with a new £1.5 million test centre.
The building will have a designated area for motorbike users to be assessed on manoeuvres now required by the law, reports the Echo.
Rosemary Thew, the chief executive of the Driving Standards Agency, told the newspaper the new centre will aid road safety in the area.
"This multi-purpose test centre fits into our overall vision of improving facilities for riders and drivers across the country," she added.
It is hoped the centre will ultimately cater for the whole of south Essex, for both car and motorbike users.

The announcement of the new location follows the planned closure on a site in Southend, which is due to take place on December 5th.
Campaigns to save the old centre will continue, the newspaper reports, despite the new Basildon location being able to serve 12 examiners.
It is set to open on September 29th.
The new area outside the building will cater to a new European directive which determines changes to bike testing to increase safety for riders, according to the source.
Included in the amendments are new manoeuvres which must be carried out at between 30 and 50 mph and are therefore deemed unsafe to perform on roads, VisorDown.com reports.
