Birmingham to host classic bike show

Birmingham is to host a classic motor show at which 200 motorbikes will be displayed.

In November, the Pavilion by the Classic Bikes hall will be transformed into a "temple" for fans of classic bikes, which could be of interest to motorbike insurance customers.

Organisers promise a host of "ages, colours, creeds and configurations" among the vehicles, meaning bikes from past and present will be displayed to enthusiasts.

In particular, the UK Honda Turbo Association is to show off both the US and the UK incarnations of the CX 500 Turbo and the CX 650 Turbo, as part of a larger display.

The association's show secretary Paul Cripps explained one member of the group rides a modified CX 650 Turbo which is powered by nitrous oxide.

He enthused: "This bike makes a great talking point, because it's a real head-turner and a couple of years ago, he broke the World Record for Production Turbos on it by reaching 188mph!"

In February Honda launched four new models into the UK market, describing the event as "much anticipated".

This was the first time the "all-new and acclaimed" Fireblade was made available through dealers and Honda urged motorbike fans to pick up one of the earliest new models.

The manufacturer released models CBR1000RR Fireblade, XL700V Transalp and the CBF600 and CBF600S ABS.
