Rare motorbike stolen
Police are appealing for witnesses after a rare black Panther M120 vintage motorbike was stolen.
The vehicle was taken late at night last week and later found abandoned a distance away. It was stolen from Felstead Avenue in Leicester and found near Red Hill Island.
Investigating police are seeking two teenage boys who were seen pushing a bike which fits the description.
PC John Maddocks, looking into the disappearance, said: "I would like anybody with any information to come forward and help with our investigation."
He urged anyone who thinks they may have information to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.
The Home Office recommends bikers take a few simple steps to try and reduce the number of thefts.
It urges them to only park in safe areas and fit their vehicles with an alarm or even an immobiliser. Additionally these measures may save you money on your motorbike insurance.
The government organisation recommends people cover their bikes and do not leave anything on display which could attract the attention of thieves, including helmets.
According to the Home Office, the majority of bike crime can be avoided if owners are careful to limit opportunity for theft.
However, it acknowledged that if motorbikes and scooters are not secured, they can be wheeled away or moved into a van, meaning they can vanish in seconds.
