Motorcyclists urged to be wary of autumn hazards
Motorcycle riders have been urged to be wary of changing road conditions by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).
According to the IAM can see roads flooded as fallen leaves clog up road-side drains during periods of heavy rainfall.
This can increase the risk of skidding for drivers and motorcycle riders, the organisation warned.
Meanwhile, darker mornings and evening can mean it is harder to see surface water, the IAM stated.

"If the road surface is black, pockets of water are less easy to see and can cause a sharp, unexpected jolt on the steering wheel when hit," it asserted.
Road users were advised to be wary of braking sharply when visibility is limited and to be prepared to slow down to give them both time and room to come to a stop.
By doing so, those behind them should also have enough time to react, it added.
The IAM was established in 1956 and is dedicated to improving standard among the UK's riders and drivers.
By doing so, it hopes to reduce the number of collisions that occur on the country's road network.
It also aims to influence road safety policy at levels of government.
