New body to represent bike trainers announced
The Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) has announced that a new initiative is to be launched to bring all members of the motorbike training sector together.
Known as the Motor Cycle Industry Trainers' Association (MCITA), the new body is intended to include all facets of the training sector and help to improve road safety, bike insurance customers may be interested to learn.
It also aims to offer a "much stronger" voice to trainers when it comes to lobbying legislators and the government, the MCI said.
David Taylor, chief executive of the association, said the new body was a "natural extension" of what the MCI currently offers.
"Improving road safety is vital in reducing casualty figures, and we believe that the closer we can work with trainers, the more impact we will have," Mr Taylor commented.
Safety is the "number one priority for us and government", he stated, adding that greater cooperation will "secure the future of a healthy motorcycle market".
Earlier the month, the MCI reported that motorcycle sales fell by 9.7 per cent in September, compared with a 21.2 per cent decrease in the car market.
Total registrations of powered two-wheelers stood at 16,431 last month.
