Fireblade named Britain's favourite
Honda's CBR1000RR Fireblade has been voted Britain's favourite motorcycle by motorcycle insurance customers.
The model, a new release this year, attained the accolade as part of RiDE Magazine's annual "RiDER Power" survey - a review which questions more than 7,000 motorcyclists on various issues to do with their machines and riding kit.
It scored a 92.19 per cent satisfaction rating amongst readers, a total that RiDE Magazine attributed to its ability to satisfy the "important stuff" - reliability and build quality - at the same time as offering rider fulfillment.
Magazine editor Colin Overland explained that the result offered a departure from those of recent years.
"The survey is traditionally topped by tourers and sports tourers, but this year, the all-round brilliance of Honda's Fireblade knocked BMW off the top spot," he added.
Honda Motorcycles' general manager Steve Martindale said the company was "very proud" of the result, which he said capped a "fantastic year" for the latest Fireblade model.
The bike is also the UK's best-selling motorbike of 2008, with motorcycle insurance customers able to purchase the model from £9,321 on the road.
Meanwhile, Yamaha is to launch a showcase of its 2009 off-road range at the Warwickshire-based Dirt Bike Show next month, including a host of new and updated models.
