"Nuisance" mini moto boy given Asbo

A 14-year-old mini-moto rider who wreaked havoc across Kidderminster has been slapped with a two-year Anti Social Behaviour Order (Asbo).

Robert Kenneth Smith ignored a warning for riding the vehicles and had two seized and destroyed by police before his continued "nuisance riding" landed him with the order, the Kidderminster Shuttle reports.

Under the terms, the teenager is prohibited from entering several areas in the region and banned from using threatening or abusive language or behaving in a manner that may alarm or distress members of the public.

He will also be restricted to riding motorcycles only on private land where he has the full permission of the landowner.

Sergeant Nadine Pearse of the Kidderminster West local policing team said that the Asbo would protect those whose quality of life had been affected by Mr Smith's antisocial behaviour and encourage him to change his ways.

"The local community has a right to be protected from this type of nuisance, and if Smith breaks the order he can face a jail sentence of up to five years," she added.

Motorcycle insurance customers may welcome the decision to clamp down on the dangerous and antisocial use of motorcycles, with Avon and Somerset Police warning last week that youngsters illegally riding mini motos were "an accident waiting to happen".
