Riders killed in road traffic accidents
Bike insurance customers have been reminded of the need to take extra care on Britain's roads this winter after a Caernarfon rider was killed in a road traffic accident.
53-year-old Graham Roberts died in hospital after suffering serious head injuries when his Yamaha V-Max motorcycle was involved in a collision with a Ford Focus car in Morecambe earlier this month.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash as Mr Roberts's family paid tribute to the man who "lived for his bike and his family", the Caernarfon Herald reports.
His sister Gillian said: "He just loved to get out on his bike to come over and see the boys. He was a huge presence in the family. He will be missed so much everyone is obviously devastated."
Another fatal accident was reported earlier this week near Lowestoft, where a motorcyclist was killed following a collision involving a Ford Transit pick-up and a lorry.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene and the 25-year-old driver of the pick-up vehicle has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
According to bike manufacturer Honda, European research data shows that the majority of accidents involving motorcycles are caused by perception failures.
