Riders urged to voice their opinions
Bikers in Devon are being urged to voice their concerns and get themselves heard at the Peninsula Motorcycle Forum next weekend.
In a bid to improve rider safety and help cut the number of motorcycle insurance claims in the region, road safety professionals and motorcyclists will gather to share their concerns at the forum.
The meeting is free to attend and takes place twice a year to help keep riders involved in road safety, and will feature speakers from various agencies.
Councillor Margaret Rogers, Devon county council executive member for the environment, said the event had already had "a positive response" from bikers keen to offer their views on certain schemes and legislation.
Meanwhile, road safety officer Michael Newcombe revealed that improving rider safety was a "key goal" for the council.
"Over the last few years, we have adopted a pro-bike stance to encourage the safe and sensible use of motorcycles," he said.
He advised riders that the forum represented "a real opportunity" to share their views and have their opinions heard.
Police in the region recently ran a special BikeSafe session for motorcyclists in Torquay in memory of 55-year-old Gary Bidmead, who was killed in a collision while riding to work.
