Police take to the air to catch yobs
Police are committed to tackling rogue riders causing havoc in South Oxhey, and will track offenders with police helicopters if necessary.
According to the Waford Observer, residents have become fed up with motorcyclists riding without motorbike insurance or legal documents across playing fields and woods in the area.
As well as causing severe damage to football pitches and other areas, riders are creating large amounts of noise and neighbours fear the likelihood of a serious accident.
Responding to their concerns, police promised to pursue nuisance youths by air using a multi-million pound police aircraft.
Speaking at a meeting of the Watford Rural Area Forum, PC Steven Sweet said three bikes had already been crushed in the area this year, and claimed that the use of the force's helicopter would help bring justice to more offenders in future.
Working alongside ground crews, the machine would be used wherever possible to allow police to pursue and arrest illegal riders more effectively, he confirmed.
The news comes after Safer Doncaster Partnership (SDP) issued a warning to parents considering buying their children motorbikes for Christmas this year.
According to the South Yorkshire Star, many parents do not realise the legal implications involved in owning a motorbike, and the report claimed that children and adults could face prosecution if they do not obey the law.
