Riders banned from woodland
Bike insurance customers have been banned from a woodland area in Pangbourne after a string of complaints by residents.
Targeted patrols were carried out and a number of vehicles seized to help combat antisocial use, and signs have now been erected warning riders to stay clear, the Reading Evening Post reports.
The Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) has also introduced stiles and other measures to help restrict access to the woods for rogue motorcyclists and put an end to the problem, which "had been an issue for a number of years".
In light of the successful crackdown, the group has decided to put an end to the priority, but signs will remain to warn nuisance bikers and advise people how to report any offenders.
David Betts, who chairs the Pangbourne NAG, also warned parents that trail bikes and mini-motos were not toys.
With Christmas coming up, he reminded those thinking of buying the vehicles that they must be taxed and full insured before they can be used on public highways.
"If they are used illegally the police have powers to seize them," he advised.
Police in Telford recently praised the success of a mini-moto club in the area which offers safety advice and education for young riders of the vehicles.
