BMW honoured at Motor Cycle News Awards

Bike insurance customers could be tempted to plump for a new BMW vehicle after the manufacturer walked away with two awards at the Motor Cycle News (MCN) awards.

The BMW F 800 GS was handed Best Trailie Bike of the Year at the ceremony, which took place at the Carole Nash International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

A special commendation was also awarded for the firm's Lowered Suspension Option, which is available across most of its motorcycle range.

This has allowed BMW to cater for riders who prefer a lower seat height and the manufacturer has also developed a number of motorcycles in its range that feature optional lowered suspension.

Adrian Roderick, general manager for BMW Motorrad UK, said the awards represented "the icing on the cake" of a successful year for the firm.

"We are welcoming more and more new customers into our dealerships as the number of riders converting to the BMW brand increases," he revealed.

Mr Roderick claimed this was testimony to the current range of "exciting and dynamic" new models.

BMW also donated one of its K 1200 R models to be used as a prize in a fundraising competition run by automotive industry charity BEN.

Visitors to the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show were invited to buy National Draw Tickets, with the winner to be announced on the final day of the show on December 7th.
