Riders team up to bring Christmas cheer
Bike insurance customers in Peterborough are set to team up in a bid to bring festive cheer to children who are in hospital over Christmas.
The Rutland Chapter Harley Owners Group (HOG) is looking to recruit riders for the Annual Toy Run, which sees motorbike users visit youngsters at Peterborough District Hospital's Amazon Ward.
Anyone who owns a motorbike can participate - as long as they bring along a wrapped present - with previous events attracting as many as 100 riders.
The Toy Run has been in existence for the past decade to help bring some Christmas cheer to those on the Amazon Ward, with bikers proving their generosity each year.
"For children on the ward the gifts and the visit really helps to brighten their day and make them feel special," said Jackie Mcclelland, play services coordinator at the Trust.
"We are really grateful to people such as the bikers for their support," she added.
The Toy Run will begin in Uppingham, near Oakham, on December 14th, and will collect riders at specified meeting points en route to the Amazon Ward.
Motorbike enthusiasts in Stoke-on-Trent will be participating in a similar event - the Star Bikers Toy Run - to help provide funds and Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children in the area.
