Motorbike club seeks new site
The organiser of a motorcycle club in Flintshire has called on council officials to find a speedy resolution as they search for a new site.
Motorbike insurance customers meeting as part of Greenfield Motorbike Club had previously been using grounds at Greenfield Docks to hold their regular biking sessions, the Flintshire Chronicle reports.
However, they have since been banned from the location on health and safety grounds after Flintshire County Council found that the land was contaminated.
And with the club out of action and no alternative site so far put forward, the number of incidents of illegal motorbiking has been on the rise in the past six weeks.
Gordon Mackenzie, the club's organiser, said he understood the frustrations of its members.
"These kids have spent a lot of money on their bikes and they are not just going to give up riding them because the council can't find them anywhere to go," he explained.
A site therefore needs to be found "as soon as possible" in order to prevent them from turning to illegal riding, Mr Mackenzie added.
Police in Northampton recently announced plans to open up a new track for off-road bikers in the area in a bid to reduce the number of complaints received about illegal riders.
