Fireblade adds another accolade
It may be difficult for motorbike insurance customers looking to upgrade their vehicle in the new year to look beyond Honda's CBR1000RR Fireblade as their top choice.
The machine has landed a string of top industry awards, with the latest honour coming in the form of the Motor Cycle News (MCN) award for Best Sportsbike over 601cc.
Presented by comedian Alan Davies at a star-studded ceremony this week, the prize recognises the Fireblade as the top machine of this year in the litre supersports class.
The model has already picked up accolades such as MCN's Best Litre Sports Bike 2008, and came out on top in Ride Magazine's Rider Power survey last month.
Trevor Franklin, MCN's chief road tester, said the Fireblade offered "performance and fun in a sorted package".
"It doesn't matter what road, what the weather or time of day, the 'Blade always puts a smile on my face and constant stream of adrenaline in my blood," he enthused.
The latest prize had been achieved on account of its "faultless reliability" and "onboard feeling of total comfort and safety", Mr Franklin added.
Data released by the Motor Cycle Industry Association this week revealed that sales of motorbikes had fallen by 16 per cent in November compared to the same month last year.
