Donation to help replace youngster's stolen bike
A motorbike enthusiast has stepped in to help after thieves left one youngster's dream in tatters.
Thomas Scott's Monster Orion dirt bike was bought as a Christmas present last year and he used to ride it at least once a fortnight at a track in Alton, the Woking News reports.
However, the 11-year-old was left distraught after the machine was stolen from the back of his father's van, which was parked in the driveway of their family home.
But after hearing about the theft, Simon Huber, director of GD Brown Motorcycles, came forward to offer the family a £250 donation towards the cost of a new bike.
Louise Scott, Thomas' mother, said: "We could not believe it when they announced that all the staff had had a whip round and presented Tom with a cheque for £250, he was over the moon."
Mr Huber explained that he himself had recently lost two bikes at the hands of thieves, adding that it is "a horrible thing to happen to anyone, especially a young boy".
According to the Daventry Express, a bike insurance customer from Stefen Hill has also had a vehicle which was bought for him for Christmas stolen by thieves in recent months.
