Mother's outrage at 'disgusting' bike thieves

A single mum of four has expressed her outrage after "disgusting" thieves made off with two motorbikes given to her children as Christmas presents.

Emma Foster bought the off-road vehicles, valued at around £400 each, for her two sons, but claimed they had barely even had a chance to ride them before they were stolen, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.

The bikes were taken from outside the family's home in Burnley, despite being securely locked up at the back of the drive, and Mrs Foster said her sons were "absolutely gutted" by the incident. "I'm a self employed single parent with four kids and I've had to scrimp and save to buy those bikes.

Now they've been stolen before my boys have even been on them," she told the newspaper. Mrs Foster is now aiming to help out police in their attempts to catch the crooks, with the offer of a £100 reward for the successful conviction of those responsible.

The incident will remind riders of the importance of taking out bike insurance on their vehicles, and follows hot on the heels of a police warning to bike owners in Northamptonshire.

Officers have seen a recent rise in vehicle crime in the area, with scooters and other two-wheelers proving especially popular with thieves, and advised bikers to step up their security measures to avoid becoming the next victim.
